We are currently looking for an engaging, organized, and enthusiastic individual to provide support for our volunteer coordination. The volunteer coordinator carries out various tasks related to recruitment, screening, retention, support, and appreciation of volunteers. There is the potential for consistent work ranging from approximately 2-10 hours/week. Flexibility with scheduling and availability on some evenings/weekends is ideal (primarily at the start of new dance seasons for training and in-person support).

Volunteer Coordinator, Casual Independent Contract Position

Program Description: 

The Dance Ability Movement strives to:

  • Be inclusive for all.
  • Enable dancers to express themselves and realize their potential.
  • Inspire dancer’s participation in a way that is adapted to provide appropriate challenges for each individual in a safe and enjoyable manner.
  • Develop a community among families and participants of The Dance Ability Movement programs and their host studios.
  • Raise awareness about individuals with special needs as contributing members of society.

The Dance Ability Movement relies on a large team of consistent volunteers to support dancers of all abilities to participate in dance classes in studio communities across Southern Ontario and virtually. The successful candidate will develop positive relationships which considers both the interests and goals of volunteers as well as the needs of the Dance Ability Movement.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and have strong attention to detail.
  • Genuine interest in accessibility and inclusion.
  • Experience and skills working with youth (ability to motivate, develop positive working relationships, provide feedback and support).
  • Experience and skills working with the public (communicating with external organizations, establishing partnerships).
  • Experience with conflict resolution.
  • Proficiency in accessible communications and inclusive language.
  • Familiarity with using social media tools (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) for an organization/professionally is a plus.
