Saba began volunteering with us at our Mississauga location, June Lawrence School of Dance, in-person and has continued to be a part of the larger DAM team for our online classes! She brings a great understanding and appreciation of differences and uses her calm and patient nature to connect with each dance buddy, allowing them the time and space to be heard and feel that sense of connection, even over the screen!
Further, Saba is able to build rapport with her dance friends and values the families’ role in supporting dancers, especially in a virtual setting! She goes above and beyond in her volunteer role by always being prepared for theme weeks in her costumes, participating in Keep Dancing Challenges and pop-up classes, and showing up to share in dance spaces with her dance friends.
Being a great role model for other volunteers and helping everyone feel a part of the team are valuable skills Saba has brought to our team! As a previous student Occupational Therapist, while volunteering with us, Saba also contributed some of her school project work to helping DAM evaluate their programs.
Saba, we appreciate everything you have brought to the DAM community and are so thankful to have you as a dance friend to all of us!
