Eliora and Dancers Having a Blast!

We are happy to highlight our next DAM alumni, Eliora Wee!

Eliora started volunteering with DAM in Richmond Hill in January 2020 before shifting to virtual classes and social events due to the onset of the pandemic. She continued to volunteer with DAM until February 2023, even filling the role of Virtual Safety Lead for a season.

Eliora recounts her enjoyment of the virtual celebration for the 10th anniversary of DAM, sharing how exciting it was to watch others in the community share their stories and experiences

“I loved how it felt like one big family! Everyone was so passionate about the organization and simply happy to be there.”

What Eliora is up to now!

Eliora now works as an Occupational Therapist at a private mental health clinic. She shares how her experiences volunteering at DAM solidified her passion for Pediatric Occupational Therapy and shifted her perspective of child participation to be more holistic and client-centered. Eliora also gained other important skills through her time at DAM, including note-taking, facilitating small-group activities, and contributing to digital resources.

“These opportunities greatly benefitted my application to master’s programs in OT and my skillset as an OT!”

Volunteering with DAM is a great way to gain new skills and experiences and get involved in a great community. Thank you, Eliora, for sharing your stories with us!
